1. Have you come to the conclusion that your parents music (music popular in their time) isn't so bad?

2. Is there a song/group/singer you once adored, but don't now?

3. Is there a song/group/singer you once despised, but is okay now?

4. Have you ever heard a favorite song and suddenly had a reinterpretation its meaning?

5. What song would you just as soon never hear again?

Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished!

Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

Meatball doing his best pirate impression.

Every morning I take Meatball out to our vegetable garden. He likes to explore and chew bits of long grass. It's a good outdoor spot for him because it's fenced; I worry without some kind of boundary he'll run off after a chipmunk and get lost (or worse).

But today, there was a rabbit in the garden--almost full grown--and he went for it. (He was not pleased with me when I hauled him back inside.)

I know some cats are more confrontational than others, but is it common for cats to chase animals as big as they are? Does your cat do this?

What time is it? Ponies Around the World time. Adventr!

It's easy. Take picture of pony toy/drawing/shirt/whatever near something recognizable in your neighbourhood. (♪ ♫ A landmark is something in your neighborhood, in your neighborhood, in your neigh-bor-hood. Would. You be. My neighbor? ♫ ♬ ♩) Upload to a working online gallery (not Photobucket, ha ha ha ha, ha. humph). Snag the URL to a copy of your picture that is less than 2,000 pixels wide or high. If that's complicated, just resize it to less than 2,000 pixels on the longest side on your computer before uploading it to a gallery. Now go here and fill in the fields.

First field: link to your image on the web, the URL has gotta end in .jpg, .png or .gif or it's no good.
Next field: link to the blog where you get all chatty about your picture. I just link to the gallery where my pictures are. I think you can leave this blank.
Next: Give your picture a name.
Next: "your name". Ha ha ha. Use an online name or make something up.
Email: Make something up but put an @ in it. I use Flickr.com as a domain. Works every time.
Next: Gallery. Right. I link to my Dreamwidth blog. Why not? I think you can leave this blank too.
Next: La description. Be descriptive. Tell us about the context or something. You gots a 1,000 character limit. It's better than Twitter.
And then, dance the Captcha-cha-cha, press submit, et voilà. Enfin terminé. Unless you want to do it again for four more pictures. You totally could. You have 24 hours left. Go go go!

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I'm extremely new to DW but I have been roleplaying for years. This is awkward because I really don't like to talk about myself. I much prefer to immerse myself in whatever I'm writing and keep things mostly IC unless we need to plot. Bandom/celeb RP is my jam and often played Travis McCoy on Livejournal, as well as William Beckett and Justin Bieber. Check out my journal for more info.

Top 5 Fandoms:
2006 Bandom RP Era Music (if that counts as a fandom and yikes that sounds old)
Anime
Harry Potter
True Blood
Tie between Pokemon and Final Fantasy X

I mostly post about: Until I get comfortable here, I may not post about much. I am so used to only using journals IC that I often forget that I can have one for myself.

I rarely post about: Eh I'm an open book once you get to know me OOC. I just prefer to keep posts IC.

My last three posts were about: RP, reconnecting with long lost writing partners, and storylines for my Travie McCoy muse.

How often do you post?: In my personal journal? As needed. If I join a RP community, probably weekly.

How about commenting?: I love commenting and interacting, for sure.

Hello! Like many people, I'm a longtime Livejournaler who's working on making the switch over to Dreamwidth. But I've had my journal there since 2001--that's pretty much my entire adult life! Change is hard! In order to help me shift my focus over here instead of over there, I'd like to see if I can establish a more active group of DW-friends. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and my journal.

About me:
My name is Katie, I'm 38, I'm queer, and I'm female. I'm a writer and writing tutor by profession (I write fiction and book reviews; I tutor high school students and beginning creative writers). I grew up in the Hudson Valley in New York State, and currently live in Philadelphia. I live in a very old house with my girlfriend of eighteen years and our two cats. I love to read (favorite writers include E.M. Forster, Marilynne Robinson, Virginia Woolf, Pat Barker, Ursula K. Le Guin, George Saunders, etc). I also like cooking, baking, canning, and food preservation of all kinds; hiking and bird watching; gardening; swimming; watching baseball.... I'm a rather typical introvert and lead a fairly quiet life. I drink entirely too much tea.

About my journal:
I began my LJ as a reading journal, and still often post informal book reviews and thoughts on whatever I happen to be reading at the moment. In addition to writing about books, I often post about food and the projects I undertake in the kitchen. Sometimes I use my journal to track goals. Sometimes I write about the things that are going on in my life. Rarely (very rarely) I share my writing. Sometimes I post about art, or the creative process, or a quotation that caught my attention. I tend to post about once or twice a week. There are often photos. I keep my journal friends-only, but if any of this sounds interesting to you I will be happy to add you so you can check it out. No harm done if it turns out to not be your style after all!

What I'm Looking For:
Like I said, I'm transitioning from using LJ as my main online home, and am looking for a more active friends list here on DW. I like genuine connections and interesting conversations. I'd love to meet people who share my interests, especially fellow book-nerds who want to geek out about literature with me. Outdoorsy folks, creative folks, thinkers, makers, teachers, learners.... I can't promise to be the world's greatest commenter and I don't expect you to be either, but I would like to talk to each other at least occasionally.

Say hello! Let's get to know each other!

Lemon Rosemary Grilled Cheese

This is inspired by a place by my work that does something similar, but with pear compote.

Ingredients:

* Sharp white cheddar (mine came from CostCo, the Coastal stuff)
* Rosemary bread (mine came from Trader Joe's)
* Lemon curd (another thing from Trader Joe's)
* Butter (I did unsalted, the cheddar is plenty salty enough)

Tools:

* Toaster Oven
* Frying pan and oven

Steps:

* Lightly toast one side of the rosemary bread in the oven
* One one slice of rosemary bread, put a pile of chopped up white cheddar chunks on the toasted side. Put it back into the toaster oven until the cheese gets pretty melty.
* While that's going on, spread lemon curd on the other piece of bread, on the toasted side.
* Put a pat of butter in your frying pan and melt it
* Take your melted cheesy bread out of the toaster oven, put both pieces together so the cheese of one side is against the lemon curd of the other
* Put your sandwich into the pan, swish it around, flip it to the other side--this will make sure that both sides have butter as you pan toast.
* Toast both sides of your sandwich in the pan with the butter, flipping as necessary. When it's toasted to your liking, put it on a plate.
* Tada! Fancy grilled cheese.

I'm still trying to get through this Harl-Equine romance novel. The Life and Times of a Winning Pony by Chengar Qordath. I keep finding things I'd rather do, like take another nap. After 400 pages it's still focused on the angst of being so incredibly good at "banging" that three mares are bickering over who gets exclusive rights to sexy Cloudkicker. She's the narrator and mane character and I have no sympathy for her. She's the expert on everything who lectures you constantly from the pinnacle of her vast experience. Sex between mares is "banging" and apparently very physical. At no point do I get the impression that Cloudkicker is female. I see her as a know-it-all white male telling all the boys what it's like to get laid by all the chicks while keeping it all so vague that the author teaches you absolutely nothing. A lot like sex ed in school. The book is one drawn out morality play on the downside of being a swinger.

Things that continue to annoy me: male voice, getting lectured, zero sexual mechanics, Mary Sue levels of adoration and erotic attraction, the military as the pinnacle of proper pony society and the blinding clarity of the message that one-night stands are fun but empty -- for a wholesome, good, fulfilling life, get hitched. I still have four hundred more pages to find out if it ends the way I expect it to, in a menage a quatre with a banging orgy every night. Four mares, banging what? Heads? We'll never know.

Do Potterheads write equally clueless Snarry fics? No, I don't want to read any Snarry porn. I'm only reading this book because I bought it and it's MLP.

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I'm fairly new here, but not new to fandom. I write fanfiction and I fandom-hop without rhyme or reason. I'm currently in a lot of small fandoms, and I love to add more, so feel free to try to get me obsessed with your favorite fandom. IRL, I'm a sleep scientist who doesn't sleep enough. I talk about my girlfriend a lot.

Top 5 Fandoms:
I'm going to cheat, but in my defense, I am in so many fandoms...
Small video game fandoms (Oxenfree, Stardew Valley, and Primordia)
Boku No Hero Academia
The Goblin Emperor
Harry Potter (always... never hop away from this one)
Haikyuu!!

I mostly post about: Fanfiction, logic puzzles, fandom things. I'll probably start posting about my life at some point, but those won't be public

I rarely post about: politics, specifics about my work.

My last three posts were about: A logic puzzle and some fanfiction exchange/challenge stuff.

How often do you post?: Not much right now - I'm new here. But I imagine I'll be posting at least once every week, if not more.

How about commenting?: I'm good about commenting when I'm feeling social, but sometimes I don't have the energy. I like making friends and being friendly though, so I try.
